The following is from Nancy Pance, Executive Director of Opportunity Oregon:

Dallas’s path with Opportunity Oregon began at a workshop at Snake River Correctional Facility, where his determination and eagerness to rebuild his life stood out. Supported by his case manager, Dallas accessed resources and demonstrated his commitment to change by completing parenting classes, earning work certifications, and graduating from the Pathfinders program.

After excelling at the Powder River Correctional treatment program, finishing at the top of his class, Dallas became a Pathway Home client. His Pathway Home prison-based case manager was Paul Shively, who worked together with Nancy Pance, his community case manager in Lane County. He stayed proactive, applying for jobs, working side gigs, and completing DMV tests to secure his Class B license—all while preparing for a career as a Bus Operator with Lane Transit District (LTD). LTD has been an incredible second chance employer partner and their CEO will be featured in a short video, used to gain more fair chance employers across the state by Opportunity Oregon.

Through support from Sponsors Inc., the Pathway Home program, the Eugene Mission, and his church community, Dallas overcame challenges and gained the tools he needed for success. On January 20, 2024, he began training with LTD, starting a promising career with competitive pay and benefits.

Dallas’s journey exemplifies the power of determination and community support, and Opportunity Oregon is proud to celebrate his achievements.
