From our community partners at Oregon AHEC:
As we begin 2025, we are proud to celebrate 35 years of dedicated service to rural and underserved Oregonians. Our programs are designed to engage and inspire health care professionals at every stage of their journey — from early career exploration, through their educational path and continuing as they enter the workforce.
Through our five regional centers, we offer immersive health care career exploration opportunities to students in grades 8-12, including hands-on summer camps. Our program office at OHSU in Portland supports the regional centers, provides continuing education opportunities for health care professionals and administers the AHEC Scholars Program.
Each year, we see a growing interest among Oregon youth in pursuing health care careers after participating in our programs. Similarly, AHEC Scholars report a greater commitment to serving rural and underserved communities.

In addition to MedStars Bend, the CEAHEC team is making plans with Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) in Klamath Falls to host health career exploration day camps for high school students in Southern Oregon. To better serve the students in Jefferson and Crook County, the CEAHEC team is exploring options to expand Diagnosis Day programming to St. Charles Madras and St. Charles Prineville campuses in the spring of 2025.
